The Colon Era, also Albert Pujols will kill you.
Kudos for Bartolo Colon going five strong against the Royals. Give a former Cy Young winner credit for taking a minor leauge assignment for a chance to come back to the bigs. Also the Sox and my fantasy team would like to thank Mr Ellsbury for scoring 3 runs, one of which was a homer. The Sox continue to streak and the Rays lost tonight, but again all I seem to read about is how Manny will never hit a home run again in his life. People of the media here me now: Manny will get to 500, I promise. There are a couple of non-Sox related things I just have to comment on for my non existant audience:
Stop what you’re doing and take a breath……………………Brandon Webb lost, to the Marlins. I know it screws up my whole concept of good and evil to.
Were you aware Albert Pujols was the Incredible Hulk? Tonight against the Padres, Albert hits a line drive that smacks San Diego pitcher Chris Young square in the nose, knocking him to the ground in a bloody mess. Two batters after Young is taken off the field, Pujols is rounding third and takes out Josh Bard at the plate, leaving Bard dragging a broken and/or sprianed ankle to the dugout. I’m not saying Albert is some kind of mad man bent on destruction, but I’m amending my All-Star votes at first base in the N.L., with apologies to Derek Lee, I don’t wanna make Albert angry……….you wouldn’t like him when he’s angry.

Sweep,finally!
So the Rays lose,Boston sweeps, and the Yankees get pummeled and are in last place. Good enough, end the season now. Nice to see Papi getting his swing going, and can we take some of the pressure off of Manny’s back? I’m watching TBS’ coverage today and I heard the comment “Everyone’s hitting homers today except the guy we all came to see hit a homer, Manny!” somewhere between, oh, 5 and 100 times during the game. Add to this they showed a picture of Bob Uker next to the pool in some short shorts, and I’m giving their coverage a solid D-.
Josh Beckett got the win, but looked a little like Beckett circa ’06. Strike out a batter or give up a homer, nothing in between. Luckly the Brewers apparently did not enjoy holding on to leads and decided to just give ‘em back on homers and yet another infield error. And credit Ryan Braun for not being a rookie of the year flash in the pan, Braun hit something like 10 home runs in the three game series, alright not that many, but the guy flat out raked. Nice to see Gabe Kapler around too, glad to see him playing agin, even if its not in a Sox uniform.
Tomorrow we’re back to AL play with the Royals, who if you haven’t heard are not the powder blue push overs of old. They even have good pitching this season, we’ll see Bartolo Colon , so…………………..there, you got that. I kid, I hope Colon can get a good thing going, I give the guy credit for taking a minor leauge deal he could have walked away from when May rolled around, but stuck around Pawtucket because of his desire to get back to the bigs. Justin Masterson will be around for a start too, hopefully the bats stay hot and give these guys a chance at a win.
