So, who gets hit tonight?

I may have been a little too “firey” the other day. Hate is a very strong word. I don’t “hate” Joba. Let’s just say he is the Yankee I tolerate the least now. So it was A-Rod they went up and in on last night, drilled so hard he took a walk up the third base line. Thankfully he didn’t charge the mound, credit him for that. I’m sure he knew it was either him or Jeter who was gonna get it, I’m just glad nothing got out of hand. I’m sure Tampa Bay would love a bench clearing, suspension getting brawl between the two teams chasing them.

Hopefully tonight, the two teams will just get back to playing baseball. The Yanks are streaking like crazy, and the Sox? Not so much. I just  have a bad feeling these two teams are headed in two differant directions, its way to early to panic, but the feeling during this series is not a good one.

But who knows, tonight maybe they’ll play a typical 10 hour affair, both streak to atop the division leaving Tampa Bay behind, and in October we find ourselves in the same place we also seem to.

An Off Day and Sweet Emotion

Manny-Ramirez-R.jpgSo swept by the O’s and an all Florida World Series then? Relax, no need to push the panic button………yet, maybe, who knows. At least the Yankees are struggling too. A day off and a trip back to Fenway is what this team needs. And poor Clay Bucholtz. Look kid, if you tear off your ENTIRE fingernail and it makes it impossible to throw the fast ball, TELL SOMEONE! I’m glad Clay wanted to stay out there, but really, what if he’d lost a foot or say an eye? Would he try to hide it with a patch?

And Manny. Manny makes a great catch, turns two and has a good time doing it. But now this has lead to ESPN’s un-retirement of the “Manny Being Manny” phrase. It seemed like as he was inching closer to 500 and confirming his already Hall of Fame status, the Baseball Tonight crew had begun to step back and appreciate Manny’s ablities as an all time great, but now, with one catch its “wacky highlight reel” time again!

Manny stated that its what this games “all about, having fun.” Good on ya Manny, with all the whining latley it seems some, if not most ballplayers have forgotten that. Joba’s fist pump-gate? Really? Sorry, but even as a Yankee Hater, David Delluchi’s being a big baby. The night before, when Joba gave up the 3-run jack, he bent down, hands on his knees, and looked like he was gonna either cry, throw up, or both. If a guy wears his heart on his sleeve like that, let him get excited, plus he’s what like 14, 15 years old? Let the kid get excited, they could use some emotion on the field in the Bronx these days.

And what about the Mets calling the Nats a “girl’s softball team” for keeping the chatter going in the dugout to spur on their teammates at bat? Is the Mets clubhouse stocked up on dipers and wipes? Why is it the chatter and back and forth on field banter seems to cease after college? I’m all for old-school respect the game type like attitude, but your team being fired up and making noise is not disrespectful to the game in anyway. If your teams offended, play better, beat the other team and make ‘em shut up.

Do some guys pose too much? (Manny, as much as I love you………) yes. Do pitchers make with the “point to the sky fist pump combo” thing too often? (Carlos Z…….) you bet. But if you’re on the opposing team and you don’t like it, then its your pitcher’s job to go high and inside next time through the order. If I recall that’s a pretty classic, old school move.
